It seems fair to say that we can all use encouragement.
With the news full of statistics, projections, and, at times, overwhelming updates on our global crisis, hearts can grow weary...but there is hope. Real, tangible, lasting hope. And sometimes that hope is found in the details. In the details, we can find comfort. Scripture is full of details that are briefly mentioned, barely noticed, or just completely passed over, and yet, in these mundane moments, the eternal is seen, lessons are gleaned, and lives are changed. When life slows down or even, grinds to a halt, it can be easy to grow disillusioned, distracted, or even discouraged, but could it be the details are actually the platform for our growth and for God's goodness to be manifested? Remember in Zechariah 4:10, God speaks and says,
"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin." Though obscure passages obviously have details we probably haven't relished or absorbed, I want to take a different angle. Over this month of quarantine (for many), let's dive into those stories we all learned in Sunday School...you know, Abraham, Joseph, David...you get the idea, and let's take a glance at the details that changed the course of the story. Get ready to have your spirit lifted as you see God isn't always about the dramatic thunder of Sinai. Sometimes, the majestic is in the details of the ordinary. My prayer is that you will leave each episode with your heart encouraged, your spirit raised, and your eyes on the LORD.
